In the Skagafjörður Fjord in North Iceland two powerful and
stunningly beautiful glacier rivers run side by side, the roaring
Jökulsá
Austari and its tamer sister, the
Jökulsá
Vestari. Together they offer exceptional white water
rafting, from family trips on the West to blood pumping action river trips and
expeditions. So if you feel like braving the famous glacier water waves of the East Glacier River or simply want a taste of
river rafting fun and the magnificent beauty of the deep Jökulár Canyons
on the West glacier river, in Skagafjörður you will have a great adventure.
Our rafting adventures on the East Glacier River or Jökulsá Austari as it is
named in Icelandic is what we are most famous for, frequently rated as one of
Europe´s five finest rafting trips. We call it
The
Beast of the East and for good reason, it is very
demanding and action packed trip. In the international white water
rating system it is rated as a class 4+ out of 5 possible, so come prepared for an
unforgettable adventure. The river powers through impressive canyons and
has consistently ranked number one on the Lonely Planet list of "things to do in
Iceland", and for a good reason. This is the ultimate river rafting
experience in Iceland and we state without blinking an eye that this is
also one of the best rafting rivers in Europe.
